Homemade Powdered Laundry Soap DIY

Kati makes homemade laundry soap. This soap works VERY well. We use Ivory since one of our kids has sensitive skin. However, I have made this with several different soaps. Dr. Bronner's is my favorite. You can get the ingredients at your local grocery store or most Wal-Mart's. 1/2 Cup BORAX 1/2 Cup WASHING SODA (not baking soda) 1 bar of soap Mix well and you will only need 1/4 cup for a large load. This soap does not get sudsy, but will clean very well.

Homemade Beauty Products - Benefits of Shea Butter

!±8± Homemade Beauty Products - Benefits of Shea Butter

Shea butter is a natural fat extracted from the seed of the African shea tree. It is slightly yellowish or ivory in color and used in a variety of ways. It is used in commercial and homemade beauty products, (for skin and hair), food preparations, as a water proofing wax, in candle-making, in medicinal ointments and more. Mostly, though, it is used in cosmetics or skin care products.

Shea butter contains the benefits of vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E maintain the skin, keeping it clear and healthy. These vitamins prevent premature wrinkling and facial lines. They are helpful for sun-damaged skin, as well as, vitamin F, a natural skin protector and rejuvenator. Studies have shown shea butter reduces the effects of UV damage on the skin, but the levels of protection are extremely varied. Shea butter contains a high level of cinnamic acid, a natural sunscreen, so it does provide some degree of protection from the sun.

It easily penetrates the skin allowing the skin to breathe while not clogging pores. It is has anti-inflammatory properties making it useful for treating rheumatism, arthritis and troublesome muscles and joints. It soothes rough, dry flaky skin, dry scaly skin, chapped skin and helps soften dry or damaged hair.

Claims from dry skin to minor dermatological diseases have been made regarding the benefits of shea butter, but if you have a serious skin condition, you should see a physician. There are many, clinically proven, benefits of shea butter, for the skin.
